Corrections policy
When we get something wrong, the record says so — visibly, permanently, and without burying what changed.
Every story has a public correction record
Each story keeps an append-only correction record on its own page. Corrections are never silently deleted or overwritten: a corrected story links the correction, and the correction links back to every affected revision.
Severity is recorded, not just felt
A correction states what was wrong, what is now said instead, when the change was published, and how severe the error was. The previous revision remains available at its permanent address, so you can compare the two yourself.
History is immutable
Published revisions do not change after the fact. A correction publishes a new revision and records the relationship to the one it replaces, so linking to any revision always shows exactly the words that were there.
